Introducing Travelgreen.eu

Travelgreen.eu is a non-profit attempt to making air travel-based vacations less harmful to the environment by neutralizing the greenhouse gases emitted by the flights of the here booked vacations. Unlike any other travel agency, Travelgreen will compensate all booked flights automatically without charging additional fees. Hence, Travelgreen is offering the same or cheaper prices as the profit oriented competition (Expedia.com etc), but will - unlike them - provide free CO2 neutralization.

The finance to pay for the CO2-compensation will be acquired, by taking in the role of a commision-based travel agency: This website will act as a "sales agent", but instead of using the commission for profit and advertizing, it will be invested in CO2 compensation, while hoping to generate free viral traffic and thereby avoiding costly internet ads.

The CO2-compensation itself will for now be outsourced to one of the many capable and established companies in the field, such as the Carbon Neutral Company. Once a critical number of customers has been reached, initiating own CO2-neutralization projects will be an option to increase the transparency and cut out the middleman.
The travel agency is also external in its core: an established travel agency will updates the offers, processes the bookings and then, as outlined, pay Travelgreen a commission, which is used for the CO2 neutralization. The database of the travel agency is seamlessly integrated into travelgreen.eu and contains over hundred thousands of trips departing from airports in Germany, the Benelux, Austria and Switzerland.

I am publishing this list, because I am currently working on this project alone and I am hoping to attract a few web-savvy, viral-savvy green enthusiasts to help me tackle these tasks. Further, I want this project to be 100% transparent and open from the beginning on.
